CALLED TO ORDER
The June 30th, 2006 meeting of the WLIA was called to order at 8:15 p.m. by President Osterhout.

OLD BUSINESS
Boat launch is done. 46 off lake members are paid members.
Sora and Pleats - the races were passed by WLIA member vote, but the races were cancelled due to an insurance conflict.
NEW BUSINESS
Boater safety course being held by Bob Rivers. He is also offering to do a course for jet ski usage. Bob Rivers - 10-13 under age operators - illegal to use alone with out someone above 18. Power boat - 10-18 must have boaters safety certificate or it's illegal. There was a discussion regarding wether Willard let's people who were not members launch. Yes, if they are visiting someone on the lake for the day.
Helderberg Ambulance purchased 3 stair chairs with memorial funds including our donation.
Thank you from BKW for money for scholarships. Andrew Elderd and Nicole Schultes received them.
The Book - it is at the printers. Pictoral journey from 1850-1950. Board of Directors approved spending $10,000 to print the book. Lake Association will make about $10 per book. First available July 22nd at Heritage Days.
Dam Committee - Bob Rivers put a new board in. There are 2 large logs over the dam per Roger Freestone. They are interfering with waterflow - we need to wait until water stops going over spillway and logs dry out. Then we will look for volunteers to remove them.
Weeds - No committee. Weeds are now starting to fall down. Pick them from the root and make sure to get the "pods". Discussed options to get rid of weeds. Not realistic due to cost.
Historical Committee - Willard still looks for postcards.
Family Day Committee - July 15th. Cancelled due to lack of involvement and participation. Dan Johnson spoke about how sad it would be for Family Day to end, it's not about the profit, it's about the sense of community and getting together. A show of hands for how many people would come: about 1/2. Amy Anderson and Dori Mullen do not want to see it end, they volunteered to chair. Sue Mason needs to be called for ponies.
Dinner Dance - Hors de oeuvres instead of full dinner? There were no volunteers, no dinner dance.
Website - Bill from Stacy Loucks for $127.00 for 1 year. We are linked to Berne Historical Site. There was an applause for the web site because of the great job the web editor does. There is a need for new pictures and announcements.
Raffle Chair - Volunteer needed to distribute. Debra Doolittle volunteered. She will let Willard know if she does not get a good response. Jim Brooks will help Debra.
Berne Heritage Days - Saturday July 22, 2:00 pm until dusk, we need volunteers. Volunteers were: Bob Rivers, Susan Rockmore, Amy Carlson, Dan and Terry Johnson, Jerri Osterhout, and Amy Anderson.
Florence Young is 97 years old today. She has been a member since 1947.
OPEN DISCUSSION
Water is still being monitored and tested by the state. You have to ask for results. Last years looked good. If anyone wants to test septic, let Lee Jones know, he has the pellets. Roger Freestone asked where they test the water? Albany County tests it from Zwicks. Gerry Nocella will check into if they tested this year.
Domonic asked if lake be lowered this year? A decision will be made in August.
How many use water in winter? Most of Pine Knoll Lane, Rivers, and Osterhouts. We could freeze out the weeds. You would have to hire a contractor to burry water pipes.
ADJOURNMENT
Milt Bates motioned that we adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Amy Carlson. All were in favor. Meeting was adjourned at 9:25.
