OLD BUSINESS

Willard Osterhout speaking- Lake Level - we had voted to leave the water down at the August meeting. After numerous phone calls from conserned residents who use the water, an executive vote was taken on whether or not to leave the lake down. It was voted to close the dam for this year. We will revisit leaving the dam next fall at the June meeting. Bob Dollar asked if Encon was contacted regarding the lake level. Willard called them but they did not respond. Dori Mullen asked if we should send out a mailing about the level being discussed at the next meeting. Willard stated that it would be addressed at the June meeting when a special meeting will be held about leaving the level down. It was asked if there would be time to contact Encon about water line permits. Lee mentioned they should start that process soon.

NEW BUSINESS

Willard- The association has funded three books so far. Willard is working on another small book and will be asking at the June or August meeting for funding. Willard was contacted by the Town of Berne about enlarging some of the photos from his books to hang on their walls. Willard had pictures converted to slides and went to BKW to speak to high school Social Studies classes on the history of Berne. Willard also had place Mats made from some of the pictures. You can contact him if you would like to do the same. They cost about $20 for a set of 4.

Sharon Klein would like to know if anyone is interested in a Winter Carnival on the lake. She remembers how much was available for kids to do when she was younger and would like to bring some of that back for kids today. Willard stated that weather would have to be considered. Past events have had poor turn out because of weather. He also reminded everyone that the WLIA does not have a liability policy. Amy Anderson suggested going to the Towns to see if they might want to do something like this as a partnership. Willard said that we would revisit it at the June meeting.

Stacy Loucks received an email about summer rental properties on the lake.

Dam Committee-- None.

Historical Committee-- Willard has bought some new post cards and is working on a new book.

Website Committee-- 4700 hits as of today. The site was updated a little. Stacy asked that people send in photos or information to put on the site.

Walleye Committee-- Walleyes have been caught, 22 inches - 25 inches. Adam Kodra had a fishing tournament in Saratoga to raise money for the WLIA. He raised $170.

Family Day Committee-- Are we having it? Sharon Klein and Stacy Loucks would like to be involved in planning it. We will talk about it in June.

Postcards and Notecards Committee--none

Raffle Committee--We need a new Chairman. Deb, Sharon Klein and Stacy Loucks offered to place tickets around town.

Membership Committee--Bob Rivers is now the membership committee. Bob Rivers was not in attendance so we will revisit in June. Dori asked if we had Representatives, Lee Jones reponded no. There were new Membeship lists printed.

Sue Rockmore asked if Bob Rivers was doing the boating coarse this year. Willard doesn't know he hasn't seen Bob Rivers since summer.

Bill Hazen asked if anyone has looked at the patches on the dam recently. Willard said yes, it has been checked by a professional in the last few years. The dam has been there since 1964. Fortunately it is still working. There was concern about the intake pipe still being open. Willard thought so but he will make sure it's looked at in the Fall.

Jerry Nocella asked if Willard had spoken to Mr. Pleat and the Jewish Community Center. Willard had spoken with Mr. Pleat and he is aware of our concerns. Mr. Pleat was going to talk to them about the number of boats thay are using. Is there anything written in the WLIA bylaws about boats or camps. Willard stated no. Willard said that Pleat's propery is considered a beach according to the Town of Berne. You would have to check to see what is in the Town Ordinance. Dori suggested putting bouys 100 feet in front of your property. Gail Dollar asked if we could have the Sheriffs come up to monitor the lake. Willard said he would give them a call. Willard said that Mr. Pleat was going to talk to the JCC about the way the kids were running the boats. Jerry Nocella did not receive a response to the letter he wrote to the JCC regarding the damage done to his boat while the camp was on the lake last year. Willard commented that there is minimal traffic now compared to years ago. Sue Rockmore offered to contact the JCC.

A moment of silence was held for Madeline and Joseph Nocella, Nina Hallasey, and Marty Leonard.
