OLD BUSINESS

Willard Osterhout speaking- Family Fun Day was a success. The WLIA was there to sell books and support Families Together who had games and rides for the kids. Willard read a thank you letter from Families Together for the $100 donation from the WLIA. The WLIA also purchased a trophy for the Car Show. Dave Schanz was the winner. Books and notecards were sold. The banner that Hanley's donated was hanging in front of the table.

NEW BUSINESS

Willard- Does anyone need the lake lowered for work on their docks? Lee Jones and others stated that they did need it lowered. Doc Rockmore asked if we could leave the water down this year. Leaving the water down would kill the weeds. Willard wasn't sure how many homes used lake water and would be effected by the water staying low. A discussion was held in regards to well lines. Dori offered to send out a notice about lowering the level. Willard- until 1964, the lake was down 2-3 feet over the winter before the new dam was built. Doc Rockmore motioned to lower the lake and leave the dam open. Milt Bates seconded the motion. A majority were in favor. Bob Rivers opposed, it effects peoples water. Willard stated that a majority vote of members present at a meeting is enough to pass the vote. Willard stated that it would also help with preserving the lake walls. Lee will do a postcard mailing to all members about the lowering of the lake at the end of September and that the lake will remain lowered. The lake will be lowered a total of 2 feet.

Gerry- Gerry's boat came loose and crashed into the wall because of the heavy traffic during the week. The boat was damaged. He is very concerned about the number of boats used by the Jewish Community Center. His dock is also suffering from the wakes. Midge- I couldn't take the kids out tubing because of the amount of activity from the camp. Willard is concerned because the boats keep increasing. They started at 2 boats and are now at 4 boats. Willard has also received complaints from others on the lake about the drivers watching the tubers instead of paying attention to driving the boat. Bob Rivers had tried to get them to go to another lake or river, but it's too cheap at our lake. A discussion ensued about the number of non-lake residents being a member of the lake association. Robert Coco expressed his concerns about the numbers. Bob Rivers suggested raising dues. It was asked if Mr. Pleat needs a special permit for the camp. Willard stated that he does not because he leases the beach to the camp. Willard is going to speak to Mr. Pleat and to the Jewish Community Center to try to resolve this.

Family Day Committee-- Lost $218.00. There were 17-19 Families, 55-57 people. Bart suggested a get together on a Friday night instead. We will re-visit canceling Family Day at the Spring meeting.
