Minutes from the August 18th, 2006 meeting.

CALLED TO ORDER
The August 18th, 2006 meeting of the WLIA was called to order at 8:02 p.m. by President Osterhout. Approximately 30 members were present.

Secretaries report -
June 2006 minutes were read by Stacy Loucks. Willard Osterhout made a motion to receive the minutes as read, Bob Rivers seconded the motion. All members present were in favor.

Treasurers report -
None.

OLD BUSINESS
Boating Course - Bob Rivers speaking: There were originally 10 people signed up. But the amount grew to 38. Some were from the Parks and Recreation web site. $225 was given to the Fire Department from the proceeds and $50 to the WLIA. There is still a need for another course. Bob asked for suggestions for a date for the next year. Bob asked if certifications should be monitored when people use the boat launch. If something can't be set up through the launch, we'll have to involve the Sheriffs. That would also effect the unregistered boats and jet skis that Bob and Willard have seen on the lake.

Willard thanked the Firehouse for the use of the building for our meetings.

NEW BUSINESS
Willard Osterhout - Has received two emails from Domonic Mucci about lowering the Lake this year. Sweeney's also need it lowered to work on their concrete dock. Almost 6 people need it lowered. Freestone's might need it lowered 3 feet to work on their basement and water line. Willard motioned to lower the lake 3-31/2 ft. Bobby Craft seconded, all were in favor. The lake will be lowered on October 1st.

Heritage Days has been rescheduled to September 2nd. Volunteers from the first time will be approached by Willard to Volunteer on the rescheduled date. There won't be as many crafters. Fireworks will be that night. We missed out on selling the book but we should make that up at the rescheduled date.

Book Report - Willard: 228 Books have been sold. The books are paid off now with the amount that have been sold. The Spectra Graphics bill was $11,600.00. It is all profit now. If the 500 that were printed are sold, the WLIA will make $5000. There was an applause for Willard Osterhout. The sale of the second books has generated more sales from the first book as well. More pictures are surfacing. An Addendum may be done next year depending on how many more pictures are found.

Testing of water - Roger Freestone spoke with Gary Moster about the testing. The Health Department has been testing twice a month because of the camp. The testing was for swimming quality not drinking. Overall, the results were good.

Willard spoke with the JCC camp about the possibility of Pleat's being sold someday. They didn't care because they have 3 years left on a 4 year contract.

Web site - There are over 2000 hits on the site. We need more pictures from members to put on the site.

Dam Committee - Water is still flowing over the dam. The water is low enough to remove the logs but they are not affecting water flow. They need to dry out a little more to remove them.

Historical Committee - Willard is still taking in pictures. Bob Anderson found a postcard of Wagoners Hotel and donated it to the WLIA.

Membership - 185 members. A lot of canoes, kyacks, and fishing boats. Willard doesn't think there is a concern with the amount of members yet. Freestones stated that there are a lot of people who didn't know that there was an association. They suggested going door to door to promote the WLIA. Willard and Bob have thought of that too. Membership committee will have to look into it.

Family Day - Gwen speaking - less than $200 loss. Between 150 and 200. Lowest loss so far. Even though it rained, everyone had fun. We'll talk about next year in February.

Raffle - Another $237 were sold tonight. We were already ahead by $500. The profit this year will be $700-800. Thank you to Debbie and Jim Brooks for putting the tickets all over town. Note from Willard: the Books are also being sold at the Berne store and at the Hardware Store.

Meeting Dates for next year are June 29th, August 24th, February 11th, and Family Day will be July 25th.

Willard discussed this years donations: $100 for the Ambulance, $100 for the Fire Department, and $100 to the school for scholarships. Terry Johnson motioned to accept the donations, Gail Dollar seconded, all were in favor.

Willard - We are almost out of magnets. Should we do postcards? Friends of the Library did notepads to make money at Heritage Days. They are also thinking of doing a Christmas Card. Some things we should think about. Sue Rockmore and Amy Carlson volunteered to research for the postcards. Amy Anderson, Betsy Bates, and Terry Johnson also said they would help.

Willard read a Thank you card from Andrew Elder who received one of the Scholarships.

Bernie Nagengast could not be here today to do the raffles. Gwen did the raffles for Bernie. 1st place Curt Schultz, 2nd place Jim Roamer, 3rd place Dan Johnson.

Willard asked if there was any more business to discuss. No reponse.

A moment of silence was held for Florence Young, a member since 1947.

ADJOURNMENT
Jerri Osterhout motioned that we adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Bob Rivers. All were in favor. Meeting was adjourned at 8:47.
